THE LINCOLN HIGHLINE
Architectural and Structural Design
The Lincoln Highline is an experimental design project that explores how the city’s urban periphery and in between spaces might be utilised in a post-carbon future. The key design priorities are defining the edge of the city, sustainable agriculture, education and using overlooked spaces.
“In the modern city the voids between buildings, not the buildings themselves, hold spatial inspiration.”
Edge of a City, Steven Holl
MICRO SCALE
Creating a new ecosystem for the city operating via the highline, generating its own food and energy sources.
MESO SCALE
As we move into a post-carbon world the Highline starts a sustainable agriculture initiative, helping crLincoln as a circular city.
MACRO SCALE
The Highline will act as a prototype which can be applied nationally to other UK cities hoping to create more sustainable and local ecosystems and economies. It will also reduce food miles and carbon emissions nation wide.
In collaboration with Evangeline Barrow and Saffron Nicholson
