Rachel Brown

With a strong passion for design and architecture, Rachel is driven to create impactful, innovative and transformative spaces that enhance the user experience. Throughout her time at the Toronto Metropolitan School of Interior Design, Rachel honed her skills and gained a deep understanding of the principles and techniques necessary to bring design ideas to life. Proficient in a range of software including Revit, Vectorworks, Adobe and AutoCad, Rachel has learned how to translate her creative ideas into visual designs. Her design style goes beyond the aesthetics and functionality of spaces as Rachel possesses a deep curiosity and keen interest in the intersection of psychology and architecture and how it heavily influences our emotions and physical experiences. Rachel’s designs often visually appear as artistic installations, and she designs based on the emotions or conversation she wants to be shown and heard within her projects. Her architectural strategies have been recognized in school events, featured in design magazines and entered in international design competitions such as the Accor Hospitality Design Competition where she submitted a redesign idea for the Novotel Toronto Center.
Rachel’s passion for learning and growth led her to pursue a valuable 6-month internship as an Architectural Assistant with Paul McAneary Architects in London, UK. Here she actively contributed to various residential design projects, gaining hands-on experience in the field, further refining her architectural design skills while gaining international exposure. After this position, Rachel moved to the Canadian East Coast where she began her role as a Project Designer at KB9 Construction Ltd. in Prince Edward Island, Canada. She was involved in leading the redesign of the historic Orient Hotel in Victoria-by-the-Sea, a project that demanded a careful balance of preserving the building's historical charm while infusing it with modern elements, as well as leading the design of a 3000-square-foot contemporary build in Cape Traverse, PEI. These diverse experiences allowed Rachel to explore different facets of architecture to continually expand her knowledge and abilities. Currently, Rachel is enthusiastically embracing being a student at the University of Nottingham in Nottingham, UK, studying a Masters of Architecture ARB/ RIBA Part 2.
